Cape Town International Jazz Festival

This was my first Cape Town Jazz festival and hopefully the first of many more to come. I applied for a photographers press pass through The Score and although my entry was a little late the nice people at ESP Africa were kind enough to oblige. I was rather nervous arriving at the convention centre, the media center was packed with TV crews, reporters and lots of professional photographers, I felt like Bermuda must has felt when they played India! Photographers were allocated 15mins at the front of stage (the pit) to shoot each act so, as you can imagine, for the major acts there was quite a bun fight for prime positions. The Joe Sample Trio and Randy Crawford were superb, Cape Towns own Closet Snare and The Rudimentals were brilliant as usual and Ladysmith Black Mambazo were simply sublime, 'Homeless' standing out amongst the rest.

I had the most incredible, daunting, inspiring, educational and down right spectacular time, I tried to take the best photographs I could and enjoy the music at the same time. Here are some of the results:
